New JoVE collection: Dmytro Dziuba and Julie Karpenko launch a thematic collection of video articles on advanced fluorescent probes

A thematic issue co-edited by researchers from LBP and LIT!

For the first time, the Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) has started a thematic collection entirely dedicated to advanced fluorescent probes for biological imaging and diagnostics.

Co-edited by Dmytro Dziuba (CNRS Research Fellow in our Biophotonics of Molecular and Cellular Interactions team) and Julie Karpenko (Senior Lecturer, University of Strasbourg - LIT UMR 7200), this initiative addresses a critical need in the dissemination of scientific protocols: the lack of standardized reference video protocols for sharing reproducible fluorescence imaging techniques that can be used for the training of the next generation of scientists.

Fluorescent probes play a key role in detection and biological imaging, with major applications in:

  • Fundamental research (visualization of cellular and molecular processes).
  • Clinical diagnosis (early detection of diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and infectious diseases).
  • Theranostics (combination of imaging and targeted therapy).

Thanks to this collection, researchers around the world will be able to:

  • Access detailed videos illustrating protocols, from probe development to application.
  • Benefit from premium indexing (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, etc.).
  • Contribute to an innovative scientific community by submitting their own methods.

Researchers initiated this project to address an urgent need: improving the reproducibility of fluorescent imaging research. Their goal is  to create a global reference for researchers, students, and clinicians, combining scientific rigor and accessibility.

How can you contribute?

If you are developing advanced fluorescent probes or innovative fluorescence imaging methods, JoVE will take care of:

  • Professional video production (filming, editing).
  • Editorial support.
  • Indexing in major databases.

Two ways to participate:

  1. Submit an abstract directly to Jove (JoVE | Peer Reviewed Scientific Video Journal - Methods and Protocols.
  2. Contact Dmytro Dziuba : dmytro.dziuba[at]unistra.fr or Julie Karpenko : julie.karpenko[at]unistra.fr to discuss your project.
